Yeah, herd animals are willing to put up with some weird combinations. We have a lot of hobbie ranchers around here. They raise everything from buffalo to llama. You'll see them all mixed together too.
One could say that the intruder(?) was making a wee association to the surprise element out of his her or self... but that's pushing things, isn't it? :)
