Any Suggestions?

Glitterfy.com - Glitter Graphics

Okay, I'll admit it. I rarely post on Mondays because my creative juices seem to be totally drained after the weekend. Therefore, I am looking for a SIMPLE Monday meme. Anyone have any suggestions? Is there a favorite that you do?

Meme - The Letter "S"

Lori invited me to do this meme and I thought it sounded fun.

You are assigned a random letter and you should then post 10 things that you love that begin with that letter.

The letter she assigned me was "s". So here they are in no particular order.

  1. Soup - This is the first thing that came to mind. I do love homemade soup, especially when the temperature outside is below freezing and there is 8-10 inches of snow on the ground - like today!

  2. Sweet Tea - nothing better, any time of year.

  3. Sunsets - If you've visited my blog much you might have guessed this one. I have to really work not to have every Skywatch Friday post be a sunset. I just can't get over the beautiful and unique artwork God does in the sky almost every evening.

  4. Seashores - I love the feel of the sand on bare feet, the swaying palm trees, the sound of ocean waves hitting the shore - add one of those sunsets and, for me, it's as close to Heaven as we can get here on Earth.

  5. Sapphires - These are my favorite gemstone even though my birthstone is an emerald. I love deep blue sapphires.

  6. Shoes - I do love shoes. I had my closet designed to accommodate my shoes. Now, we're not talking Imelda Marcos amounts of shoes, but I definitely have more than I really need. That's why when a local charity suggested charging a shoe tax as a way of collecting donations I decided it was the perfect way for me to help.

  7. SPIFs - Those are Sales Person Incentive Funds in case you've never heard the term. That's where I can earn extra money or stuff for doing my job well. I've been in some type of sales for many years and have received SPIFs ranging all the way from a plastic candy dish to points to buy really nice stuff (name brand food processor, pack n' play, etc.) to an all expenses paid trip to Hawaii 11 years ago. Yep, I love SPIFs!

  8. Smiles - I love to see people, and especially kids, smile. Real, genuine smiles not "beauty contestant I put Vaseline on my teeth" smiles.
  9. Salads - For a long time I didn't like salads but now I really do. All kinds of salads. Hopefully hubby will learn to make some great salads in culinary school because right now his "homework" may turn me in to a future contestant on The Biggest Loser!

  10. S*x - 'nuf said.

That was fun, although, I admit getting started was a little tough. All the "s" words seemed to have exited my mind.

So, if you're interested in doing this meme, just let me know in the comments and I'll pull out my Scrabble (hey, that's another "s" I love) letters and send you your randomly selected letter.

You Can't See What I'm Saying

Okay, I thought I had it figured out. However, due to technical and medical (migraine) difficulties, you will not be able to see what I'm saying. I thought I'd at least be able to share my practice video of Gracie bouncing up and down to get a bone but it wouldn't load either. Back to the drawing board...

So here are a few photos from our Christmas - with more to come tomorrow.

Don't forget to visit other "I See What You're Saying" participants who clearly have more technical ability than me.

Thursday 13 Meme

I'm "borrowing" my Thursday 13 today from one that One Old Green Bus did last week.

#13: Who are all the people you have text messages from in your phone?

Almost all of them are from my son or from my nephew and his wife. I have saved the humorous ones between my son and I back and forth from the delivery room to the waiting room when his sister was delivering baby Isaac.

#12: Last time you laughed?

A few seconds ago when I realized I forgot to answer this question before I originally clicked the publish button...

#11: If you could seek revenge on someone, would you?

A guy once told me that "the best revenge is good living." That has worked out pretty well for me so far. The only people I can think of that I'd be tempted to seek revenge on don't have near as good a life as I do.

#10: Have you ever stripped for money?

Hmmmmmm..... Not that I remember!? (just kidding)

#9: Last nap?

I'm not a nap person - usually wake up feeling worse than before I went to sleep. You, however, are probably yawning by now.

#8: What’s a happy time you’ve had in the past week?

Last night as dear friends renewed their wedding vows and Rocky kicked off the catering business all in the same event.

#7: Who do you feel most comfortable talking about things with?

That completely depends on the topic. Some things with my husband, some my daughter, some my son, some my Mom, some my friends, and some with my bloggy buddies.

#6: How do you handle your hair once you finish washing it?

Not very well... I pretty much just can't handle it anymore and I wish someone would do something before I have to check it into rehab.

#5: Have you ever liked anyone that treated you like crap?

Liked? No, not really - if I feel the need to have someone treat me like a doormat I have a few people I love who can do that.

#4: Has anyone disappointed you recently?

Yep! There have been a couple instances at work lately where I've discovered that people weren't who I thought they were.

#3: What are you listening to?

The radio - country music - and they just made an important PSA to let us know that Johnny Paycheck's Take This Job and Shove It is not a good dedication for Bosses Day. Probably a good reminder - refer to #4.

#2: Have you ever had a difficult relationship?

Is there any other kind? All relationships take work unless they are extremely superficial.

#1: You see a shooting star, do you make a wish?

Yes, as I'm running for the telescope. I still make wishes when I blow out the bonfire candles on my birthday cake too.

Book Meme

My friend Linda at 2nd Cup of Coffee has tagged me (at my request) with the following meme. (By the way, we are trying to figure out how to pronounce meme. She has asked all her blog buddies for their thoughts. Any ideas?)

Here is how the meme goes-
  1. Pick up the nearest book of at least 123 pages.
  2. Open the book to page 123.
  3. Find the fifth sentence.
  4. Post the next three sentences.
  5. Tag five people. (You'll have to tag yourselves as I could never catch anyone in this game.)

I am currently reading Blue Like Jazz by Donald Miller.

I am nowhere near page 123 yet so I'll have to look ahead - here goes....

This is the middle of a conversation so I'm inclined to share three parts (segments?, stanzas?).

"Yeah. We are confessing to you. I mean, I am confessing to you."

"You're serious." His laugh turned to something of a straight face.

I told him I was. He looked at me and told me I didn't have to. I told him I did, and I felt very strongly in that moment that I was supposed to tell Jake that I was sorry about everything.

I'm only on page 19 so you'll have to check back to see if this one gets added to my favorite books list.
